First aid kit awareness poor, says survey
After a recent survey of commercial kitchen workers revealed that 60 per cent of commercial kitchen workers had found vital items missing from their first aid kit, some employers are clearly not taking the issue as seriously as they should.
A further 37 per cent of those surveyed did not know where the first aid kit is located, Big Hospitality reports.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers "to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work."
The minimum first-aid provision for any place of work is a suitably stocked first-aid box, an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements and information for employees about first-aid arrangements.
What items make up a "suitably stocked" first aid kit will depend on a business' individual requirements.
